We re Hiring: Patrol Officer Position at the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department!

Type of Opening: Full-Time Patrol Officer

Responsibilities: As a Patrol Officer within the Patrol Division, you'll be responsible for a wide variety of law enforcement services, including:

- Patrolling assigned areas to maintain public order
- Enforcing laws and ordinances
- Investigating criminal activity and gathering evidence
- Apprehending violators and protecting life and property
- Assisting the public in emergencies and everyday situations

You will work under the direct supervision of Police Lieutenants and general supervision of the Field Operations Commander.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

We're also seeking experienced individuals for our Lateral Transfer Program. If you have prior Wisconsin Law Enforcement experience at the municipal, county, or state level, you'll receive year-for-year credit with placement on the salary scale (up to year three) and increased vacation!

Qualifications:

- Ability to handle multiple tasks and perform essential duties
- Clear and concise speech & excellent communication skills
- Ability to possess a firearm and use standard law enforcement equipment

- Good physical condition and a clean driving record
- U.S. citizenship and vision correctable to 20/20
- Must meet eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- No domestic abuse or felony convictions
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High school diploma and 60 college credits/Associate's degree

Our Citizens Police Academy! Applications are due January 17th, 2025.

Our Citizens Police Academy is designed to give participants an inside look at our department and increase our community s understanding of the roles we play in the community.

The academy meets one night a week for eight weeks and provides participants with hands-on learning experiences in several topics including: Emergency Vehicle Operations Control, Use of Force, Traffic Laws and Enforcement, etc.

Classroom lecture and discussion focus on an overview of the department and issues in our communities.

Participants will get to try their skills during a session of scenarios similar to what police recruits encounter at the law enforcement academy. Included in the academy experience is a ride-along with a patrol officer.

The Citizens PoliceAcademy is open to:

•Hobart and Lawrence residents age (18) or older
•All potential applicants will be subject to a background check.
